While not the most informative it offers a grading test and is kinda fun! once the page loads , to the left of the screen you will see a menu, click on the updated (red) Test your grading skils link and have some fun... the 1860 cent doesn't load, but click on the others and they work... And did you notice that one of the coins on that quiz had a grade other than the three choices they give you? I forget which one, but I was so used to getting them wrong, that I almost missed it.

 

the choices are: very good, fine, and extra fine and the answer says very fine

Ok back at it! We're home safe and sound from our trek accross Alaska! Had some fun, but its good to be home! Visited the Alaska Mint in Anchorage and that is always enjoyable, then off to the great outdoors, went fishing, and got skunked ( yea, bet ya didn't know that was possible in Alaska) so for supper last night I had to settle for roasted rabbit that I hunted down that was being pesky around our ...OK... guess you all don't need all my Alaska tales...First things first, I'm going to update the point standings and then from there I'll then post the next phase after a bit!

Seriously. That's why I wasn't haven't been around too much lately. We've been looking at houses for a little while now. This is our first purchase. Gonna put a dent in my coin buying. Good thing I'm a roll hunter, and I just got a metal detector. Bad news is the house is only 10 years old. There won't be any silver in the little yard, but it'll be good practice.

OK... here we go, As I was coming up with this phase I was thinking, what is the hardest part of grading a coin by a photo? The fact that its just a photo, of course! So for this I wanted to try and give a little more "in hand" type experience, the type of photos we all wish ebay sellers would offer when selling coins, angles, angles, and more angles, as well as different lighting conditions, so for your grading consideration, here it is, a 1928 Buffalo Nickel Graded by PCGS. Your job is to decide the grade, follow the opinion of someone else, or guess the grade! You may edit your answer as many times as you like, you may let the opinion of others sway you or you can go with your gut and try grading yourself! The only real restriction is you can only have one "post" with your grade, if you decide to change your grade, PLEASE use the edit button and change your ORIGINAL grade, that way I don't have to sort through hundreds of posts and try to figure out which onewas your "Final Answer"

You are limited 1 one guess, but you may edit it as many times as you please! You may want to because there will be a grading assistant floating around on this round... Can you find him/her? They may have additional info, bonus, or ???

So in this one I will award anyone and everyone with the correct PCGS Grade as there final answer when I close down the guessing in 48 hours approx 9:00 PM Alaska Time 5/31/07 will be awarded 20 bonus points. If your guess is + or - 1 grade point I will award you 10 bonus points. As grading is subjective I'll give partial credit for "close" on this one!!
