I guess we will have to agree to disagree. If someone keeps arguing the world is flat I feel compelled to show them a globe...or a picture taken from outer space...etc. But you are quite the noble fellow for defending someone who is about to waste a significant amount of their own, and MANY others time.
it is a bit of tedious work but you can buy everythng you need without purchasing from china. Most of my stuff is usa made. Some clothes are made in vietnam and egypt.
Numerous examples were cited in that thread, Josh. It seems odd to me that anyone would go out of their way to "bash" you in PMs, especially when this was not happening in open threads. However, if it did occur and you correctly interpreted the intent, you must understand that in this business, as with most any business and life in general, you're not going to please everyone all the time, and this is especially true when stretching the truth in ways that some may find insulting. If you really did learn something from the experience, focus on that instead of worrying about what a few individuals may or may not have said. Okay, but this is not what you originally said. Please understand that my intent is not to argue with you, especially about something that occurred months ago, but my statement was taken from your then post, which reads quite differently from your above explanation.
I prefer to not even talk about that anymore. that was quite some time ago and at this point I respectfully ask you and everyone else to never bring that up again. Thank you.
Yeah, I am sorry, I call BS on that. Who actually looks at that? Who actually knows the status of their wardrobe origins. Josh, come on guy.
You brought up the subject and even asked for examples, Josh, so don't act as if it is we who are dredging up things you'd rather forget.
I had not wished to go into any details whatsoever. Digging up the past is pointless. it means nothing.
Since you don't buy ANYTHING from China, is it safe to assume that you somehow track down the origin of every part or ingredient used in every product you buy? I hate to break it to you, but regardless of what you may want to believe, chance are that at this very moment you are surrounded by things produced, at least in part, in China. This is a reality of the world we live in, and while we can make every effort to buy things produced elsewhere, unless you live as I previously asked, you both buy and use their products.
Are you really going to argue this with me? do you have nothing better to do? I'm done wasting my time good day sir.
No? Please allow me to refresh your memory... If you don't want the past discussed, you shouldn't have dug it up. Details were avoided out of consideration... for you.
And do you mean Chinese food made in America, or are you going to fly a little China-man over to cook for you, or overnight some General Tsos Chicken straight from Beijing?
I'm cautious and anal by nature, so, here is how I see this... In a short time, you signed up to CT with one name, started a store that I guess failed, changed direction into teaching (claiming you've been doing it for most of your life at 19 years of age), designated yourself as a professor, requested a new name on CT, started a university and enrolled some 18+ students. Please correct me if I'm wrong on something here. I'm not going to occupy a spot, hopefully leaving it open for a 13+ year old that is just starting in the hobby. I'll let you in on a little secret, modesty goes a long way with the older crowd here and pretty much anywhere you go. You should really have approached this with a target audience in mind. From what I've read, you might qualify to present a beginner course to Boy Scouts or a willing group of beginner participants. The flip-flopping and lack of follow through on very ambitious ideas, along with the name change, does not instill confidence, at least not in me. Good luck with your future endeavors!
Yes, that was my master plan all along. (sarcasm) I have decided not to continue this. It has not gone over well with the majority of the community and will require a tremendous amount of time to do so. What I will do instead is continue to work towards building a new online store while gathering more inventory as well as more information about numismatics here at cointalk. I just may make a few educational threads every now and again so be sure to look out for them. Thank you
Just out of curiosity, simply because you said it had failed before, what do you plan on doing differently this time around? What do you do for a living everyday? How much time do you plan on investing in the store? What return do you expect to see from how much of an initial investment (including the prior attempt)? What inventory do you plan on acquiring (asking because I am curious how you know you will acquire it at a price you know you will be profitable on)? How are you marketing this? If you respond, address all of the questions. Don't pick and choose like you do normally. Again, I am not asking just to "shoot down" another of your ideas; I am doing it for the same reason, playing devils advocate, to hopefully prevent you from another (3rd) failure.
