The show is over for me but it was a blast. I'll start a short report when I'm back home.
The big news is Charmy but I'll let her break the news. She is one happy Penny Lady.

 

This was my first time attending the FUN show. Unfortunately I was only able to attend the first day, but I filled a few holes in my proof set collection AND I got to meet both Charmy and Amanda! Now, if only those in charge could have put up signs for the coin show that were as big as those for the surf expo!

 

I had the chance to see Charmy on several of the days, but Friday when GDJMSP was going to introduce me to Amanda at her booth, she was too busy for even a quick hello. I finally did meet Tom B. He was walking the Chicago ANA in July and I missed him there the first time I tried to meet him. He must have played a little basketball in his day because he has the height for it. I did do some selling on Thursday of a few better paper notes. Made a little extra on both items so I was very pleased along with a nice pick up of a AU 20 cent coin. I had Todd photograph it at BluCC Photo's and I'll post it when he sends the pictures. I was also able to get some FUN prints for both gsalexan and I at the Spider Press Exhibit from Michael Bean. (gsalexan, if you read this, I am sending them out to you On Tuesday, 01/14/2014.) I missed winning one of his special raffle prints on Saturday by just one number. Dratts!!! Better luck next year.

I came down at 9am at our hotel coffee shop but I couldn't spot you. Perhaps we got switched around in our locations and you meant at the Convention hall and not at our hotel. To bad you didn't give me your cell phone number, I could have called you. I didn't see this post until latter in the day. From one of your pictures in your El Cheapo post, we were within 15 feet of one another at the opening ceremony.

 

GDJMSP said he was going to be by after I met him briefly outside on a smoke break (it's bad, I know), but I didn't see him again the entire time I was there! Or at least I thought I didn't -- were you two really at our booth?? I'm so sorry!

I'm going to work on a FUN write up tomorrow, but part of it is that all of our coins were shipped to the show with Brinks, and we found out about a hour before set up started that the flight had been cancelled. So we had NO COINS for all of Wednesday. So when Thursday and Friday rolled around we were super slammed with all of our regular clients and hardly had time to eat!

I definitely look forward to meeting more fellow CTers in the future! Maybe we could have an official CT meet up after a show at a specific time after the next show instead of a "I'll be in the bar eventually"!

So again, I'm sorry that I didn't get to meet more of you for a longer time, but if nothing else brief hello's and being able to put a face to the name is a good start!

what about a CT Coin Show. with buying, selling, trades, grading contests, individual collection prizes, etc. we would need to do a poll for location, just a thought.

 

Sounds cool. I'll put in my vote now. Boston. I know they have the Bay State Coin Show there every 6 months, but hey, why not have another?

 

spread it out. put it where the most members can easily access.

 

Can I vote for Los Angeles still?
