I found one of these elongated crushed pennies in the CoinStar the other day at the local grocery store. I'll be sending the old man's way who metal detects the park every so often, in the next few days from now. That aught to give him some thrill.

I like the ones that have a readable date.

Jamez Motley aka President of CONECA as well a personal friend had been working on a book on elongated coins. I asked Jim when to expect the 1st edition will hit the street.
He has turned his research over to another person to finish the text. His business as well Coneca has kept him to busy to finish it up himself. So I will post when the book is ready .
It's very surprising how many areas of this hobby hasn't had any new updates or books, some over 40 years since someone did publish a reference on certain series.

I for one have quite a few books ...sitting in my family right now there are about 40 next to my chair.
In fact I have books that ive have had to put back together in plastic pages to save the reference.
A good library as well book marked web sites is a handy tool to have at ones finger tips.
It also good for ones memory to stay connected to new discoveries and varieties found.
