Ok back to the 69 S and im not sure how your useing the term big one. Because the is such things as die deterioration and and wear. And i stil believe this is late die state where the doubled die out line is very weak. Just saying. You got your tail. I sit on mine. And as the melted cent for the reasoning behind what the coin is. Well you cant see but theres lettering on the delamanated edge. And why no relief on the other side?
The ”Big One” is the doubled die pictured in post #5 and again in post #21. It is valuable. You DO NOT have this coin. There may be other doubled dies but generally, these only carry a minor premium unless it’s listed in the Cherrypickers Guide (did you check the reference in post #10 to see if others have been verified?). The melted cent is a melted cent. The zinc core melts at lower temps than the thin copper plated shell. As the zinc becomes molten it causes the shell to deform and buckle. Hold it over the flame long enough and the zinc will breech the plating and leak out. (amazing what you learn when you’re a teen with a handful of change and a propane torch. You also learn that molten zinc will burn a hole in linoleum )
How can the OP spell “elusive” but not much else? IMHO the title was click-bait. This can’t be for real, can it? Steve
