@Johndoe2000$ that one did sell for 3275.90. For anyone wanting to quickly confirm an ebay sold price, do the following: 1. Go to http://www.watchcount.com/ 2. Type in the ebay item number [for this listing it is: 172952568293] 3. Click "Show Me!" and the price will pop up (sometimes you might have to click once more on the link that says "[History]"

I am thinking about declaring @Beefer518 the overall winner and starting a new thread called "The Holder Premium Thread" where we guess how much more/less a certain holder brings. What does everyone think? 1. Do the holder thread 2. No holder thread, continue this one 3. Do both 4. End this thread and just focus on the toning thread @Johndoe2000$ @Pickin and Grinin @KSorbo @Beefer518
Speaking for myself, I don't know squat about holder premiums, and this thread seems dead. So....??????????
I'm good with any decision. I enjoy both threads, but I would agree with @Johndoe2000$ that this thread is in ICU, and may not make it much longer.
I don't acquire many details coins, it has been very informational to read and be apart of this thread. I would enjoy a holder premium thread, I am trying to put together sets using old Holders, it would be fun!
How about we take some time off from this thread and if anyone is ever compelled to restart it, they can do so and tag all of us to guess again?
Well, it was my idea to start this thread, but if it dies now, I guess 42 pages isn’t such a bad run. I vote for the holder premium thread. The topic sounds interesting and informative.
I keep forgetting that you (@KSorbo ) came up with the idea. I would suggest you start the holder premium thread, so at least you get the credit! @ddddd has been basking in your glory long enough!!!
So if I understand the idea correctly we will post coins with grade showing that are in OGH's, fatties, doilies and so forth and guess the price paid, and the closest wins? From the auction records I've seen, not all of those coins trade at a premium, so that will add to the challenge. If we agree on these rules I will be happy to start a thread.
I have quite a few old holders, and no I haven't always paid a premium. So yes, it could be challenging. I am not sure about other rules. Any other thoughts?
We may want to keep it open to all types of holders, not just NGC and PCGS. Premiums could thus be positive or negative. The only stipulation is that the holders shouldn't be current or recent generation.
I love details coins. If I can buy a ms/au coin for good price because of a scratch I'll do it all day ha I'm looking into a 1886 no Ray's shield nickel in Ms 62/3 ish but it has a scratch so it's 18 bucks!
Yes @KSorbo my idea was: 1. Post an unusual holder (can be virtually anything...from PCGS to PCI to Paramount to ....) 2. Give a guide value for the coin in that grade 2.5 (optional) ...give some brief info/history of the holder...Conder has some info here: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/coin-grading-companies.271720/ 3. Have Posters guess the price Notes: *this will be a thread mixing premiums and discounts as some holders do sell for well below the price of the listed grade *can include US, foreign, ancient coins *we might want to be careful with undergraded or toned coins as some of the premium might be a result of that and not the holder...don't worry too much about this (but do keep it in mind)
