It's because I NEVER buy what's hot, and ALWAYS buy what's not. The deals I can get now on early copper make me wonder if I'll be arrested for stealing.
Yeah that can make a difference, I just buy what I like and don't worry about what's hot so much. I definitely have made some gold buys that feel like stealing as well though recently. One I got 2 weeks ago I feel genuinely bad for the consignor edit: This one: I think the scratch on the slab on obverse scared people off or something because this is one of the most beautiful coins I've ever seen and I stole it
The Columbian? $55. I said at $45, I’d buy it, add it to my set and say, “Thank you most kindly.” IOW, even at my cheap local auctions I’d bid 45 in an instant but wouldn’t expect to get it at that. Story of my life - the frequent underbidder. The fact that it’s a 1892 and not a 3 helps, for me.
It's ok...in general, if anyone notices that they guessed the same amount as someone else who posted earlier, it's ok to change.
I picked the Columbian up from GC a couple of weeks ago. Already have an 1893 MS64, but I was really wanting an 1892, and when this presented itself with the toning, I really wanted it as my representative for '92. My winning bid was $28 + BP + $4.50 shipping, for a total of $37.50. The coin looks really nice in hand, and the cleaning has to be an old dip, as there aren't any cleaning marks, and as you all can see, it has oned over nicely. I really like the coin. Anyways... @Johndoe2000$ was off by only $1.50, so he hits back to back wins! WTG!
Alrightythen... Here we have a Trade dollar. You know the drill. Sold for price- Grade- Straight grade, or details/reason- and, GOOOOOO....
$2500 Proof Details - Cleaned ...from the pictures the reverse doesn't look too bad...the obverse is another story...
Since it is undeniably a proof, I wonder how the fields near the devices got as "non-proof looking" as they have.
