Because Rusty Wilson the neighborhood Bully would beat you up for anything of value you might have so we would take the lense out of the frame and carry our glass in our back pocket that way the handle wouldn’t stick out and draw attention. Also had to put any coins in our underwear on he way back so he wouldn’t find our treasures when we came back on our bikes.
