I had several to choose from, and actually - <i>deliberately</i> - chose the nastiest one I could find! You see, this one has a story to tell...</p><p><br /></p><p>The story, as I heard it: </p><p><br /></p><p>When Hurricane Helene ravaged the mountain communities of Western North Carolina in September of 2024, the floodwaters washed away one gentleman's house and all his worldly possessions, including a "Monster Box" of Silver Eagles. All of it was carried downstream in the muddy floodwaters. Later, recovery workers found the coins, and conscientiously tracked down their owner and returned them. But the coins were of course contaminated by the floodwater. Eventually they ended up in the hands of some Asheville coin dealers (four of whom are good friends of mine), and several were submitted to ICG for special holders. Here's the one I bought for my giveaways. I was since given another (even scuzzier) one by my friend Michael Swoveland of WNC Coins, which I've kept.
