United States -- 1878 Morgan silver dollar, Carson City mint. Next: Any US or any 1878.

How can it be MS63 with all that damage to the face?

Big, heavy coin. Kept in bags. Prone to bagmarking anyway, but Carson City issues in particular were susceptible, as they had to travel longer distances via primitive land transportation.

In summary, that one was "graded on the curve." Par for the course. I'm sure allowances were made.

PS- personally, I agree with you that the 63 grade was still quite generous, considering how heavy those bagmarks are.

That doesn't change the fact that it's still an attractive coin, and quite desirable. (You can tell it's quite the lusterbomb!)

CC Morgans have a huge following due to their "Wild West" mystique.

In hand, the luster on this one is quite remarkable. My alleged photography skills always bring out the negatives and cover up the positives. Graded on a curve is quite accurate.

    EDIT: too late! Disregard this.

Detector find. Dug from beneath an old pea-gravel walkway, so it's a tad rough. I can't complain. When digging 'em out of the ground, I'll take my silver coins however they come. :)

Aw, snap. I was too slow in fetching that picture.

Never mind that last one I posted.

    'Tis 1930 or Luxembourg now.

    Okay, Luxembourg then:

So Luxumbourg or 1946 (or 1346 if someone has that date on a coin/medal....). Sadly I don't own this one anymore.

Coins with charging knights I can do, but don't have pjx available of any Luxembourg or 1946. (And a coin from 1346 wouldn't have an actual date on the coin.)
