GB. 1848 pattern 'Godless Florin' with ONE DIME/ONE TENTH OF A POUND as the value. The reverse die was the ONE FLORIN die filled and re-engraved with DIME as the former legend is still visible. A precursor to the first decimal circulating coins in Britain, introduced in the following year. This has one of the two rejected obverse designs and the adopted reverse design. There were seven alternative renderings of the denomination with ONE FLORIN/ONE TENTH OF A POUND the eventual choice.
