Also I wanted to take a look in Hartill's Cast Chinese Coins for this piece because I hadn't seen that mintmark on a struck piece before but it looks like Hartill attributes it a bit differently. I think his 22.1370 "Small Characters" variety is the closest match to yours.

The attribution was done by Bob Reis of Anything Anywhere. I see a match to this one in The Standard Catalog (see snip). I have Hartill but didn't think of checking for struck coinage there.

Dang, that is about the roughest looking Indian Head Cent I ever seen...I have one almost as rough...1904 US 1 cent...guess I need to get me some real nice looking ones.
