Wow, that's the oldest Britain coin I have ever seen or heard of. Here is one I gave to a fellow CT member a while back, Edward I hammered silver penny, London mint, ca. 1279-1307 AD. 1279-1307 GB 1 p obv.JPG 1279-1307 GB 1 p rev.JPG

I'm not sure if this is a legal move here but if we move from a coin with an age range is it fair to use a different country with a similar age range?

I think it has to be same date/ like if last coin posted was a 1497 AV Goldgulden from Hamburg/ then you could can post anything from either 1497 or any German State:)

That makes sense, but what if the coin before has a year range? Would a range nearby (or entirely within the first coins range) be suffice? Or if you had a single year type that was within the first coins range would that be okay? I like having coins with year ranges because it really opens the gates for pre-1500 coinage but I have wondered how to move on from year ranges.

I may have screwed up by posting that date range penny, sorry 'bout that. One can always go back to page 1 and see what guidelines the OP laid out. Could play it safe and just post another coin of England or Great Britain, no matter what date.

I think for undated coinage, this makes sense. For example I have a Roman Aureus that is undated, but it was known to have been struck 286AD Cyizcus Mint, thus 286AD and any coin struck under Rome would be OK.

I'll bring it a little closer to our times, but I do have to say the Celtic coins are some of my favorite ancients. They're so artistic and beautiful.
