Weird "2" on those, ain't it? I showed one to a noncollector once, and he thought it said "1994", not "1924".

How about the 4 on a coin from the 1500s? Looks like a Greek infinity symbol...

Yeah, I love those quirky old-style, late medieval 4s. Shaped more like one of those little cancer awareness ribbons. And their 7s were shaped like upside-down Vs.

Look at this 1477 from @tibor's amazing collection of early dated coins. It's got the groovy 4 and two of the archaic 7s!.

Anyway, back to the game. Since it's Germany or 1788, I'll play this "1788" gaming counter from the early 1800s, which is an imitation of a British "Spade" type guinea.

Ooops! Please ignore. My apologies. I did not see the later posts! Goodness. We are in the Netherlands in 1730.

Excellent! I truly appreciate "war money" or "emergency money." Here is a 1919 ten-pfennig minted by one of my favorite German cities - Mannheim.

    Sorry, I was merely waxing poetic, seeking to say "mint error" in a different fashion. Now here is a 1877 Netherlands 2 1/2 cent. 1877 NL 2 1-2 c obv.JPG 1877 NL 2 1-2 c rev.JPG
