I posted Venezuela 1954. Didn't state that because I thought it was clearly on the coin.

Nice coin, but I think it violates the guidelines:

"As much as I love ancient & medieval coins, for everyone's sanity, let's stick to dated coins from after 1500." (from post 1).

True! I think we've been playing a little loose with the 'undated' statement too...but when we had a clear range we've been using them.

So, fantastic as that dinar is (drool)...going to the prior coin which was Egypt 1944:

Japan, 10 sen, Showa 19 aka 1944. One of the last coins prior to the end of the war and the new Constitution and a single year issue for the type.

This falls under the 'modern' Japanese coins, which means those from 1870+ as this is when a significant monetary reform was instituted. This reform included using the western style minting process (and round coins) and using standardized weights and metal contents. The 'current' coinage designation is reserved for coins minted under the auspices of the the current government/post-WWII constitution--so even the 'current' coins have obsolete designs!

This particular coin is made of tin (or a tin alloy, I'm not completely sure) and resides in an NGC MS-64 slab. For a high mintage and low catalog value coin, it's really not easy to find these in as good shape.
