    The oldest one i got is the 1861 para. In 1806 in Egypt Mohammed Ali pasha released a legislative order for using copper, silver coins and a coin called "al mahboob and half mahboob". However, no trace to such coins whatsoever. Peculiar their name is something that means The Beloved in arabic.

    I had a Turkish Zehri Mahbub (sp?) on the Holey Gold Hat, too, as it happens. from the 1790s AD. I forget what the exact AH date was. Sadly, I no longer have pictures of it.

    But none of that is getting us to the next play in the game, which still needs to be Great Britain or 1789.

    I know)) The easiest i can do is just google the year and post here. But that would be tasteless))))
    I prefer just to observe for the lucky winner since i have neither GB 1806 nor US 1789.

    Here. I'll play a 1789 coin. An Irish Cronebane halfpenny Conder token.

    So Ireland or 1789, next, then...

    There's no "winner" in this thread. It's not a contest. It's just "follow the leader". Either the same date or the same country.

    And I still don't know where you're getting "1806" from.

    We're at any coin from Ireland or any coin from anywhere dated 1789, now.

    I think the above poster is a little confused on how this works?

    To the above poster:
    Initially I was. But not after @lordmarcovan clarified the game. By the way the thread allows tokens, correct me if i am wrong;
    • Tokens and medals are fine, as long as they are dated and their country of origin is known and posted for the next person to follow along with.
    That's one good reason i posted a 1789 token!

    To the above poster, guessing is a grey zone. Not very different from confusion ;)

    @pragmatic's play was valid.

    The USA proof set token is fine. It says "1789" on it, even though that's not the actual date it was struck. Good enough.

    So it was USA or 1789 after that, and @dirty_brian posted the 1789 French ecu - also a valid play. (And a handsome coin - I like the toning. Quite the historic year for France, too!)

    So nobody played a foul. All good.

    We're at 1789 or France.
