I am sorry I don't like it......sorry but I just cant get over the cut over the lip. I also don't care for the toning.
Voted "hate it". But that was just because there is no "I do not particularly like it" option. Guess that for people who like toned coins, the piece is not that bad ... Christian
Sorry, Lehigh. I usually love the stuff you post. But I don't like this one. I mean, I really don't like this one. And I think most toning fanatics would agree with me - the unsightly breaks on the obverse just slaughter the overwhelmingly gorgeous remainder of the coin.
I guess all we can take away from this thread is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I purchased this coin on 4/28/02 from a Heritage Auction with the following image for $448.50. A little over a decade later, I sold the coin on E-Bay for $529 using my own image. E-Bay & Paypal fees were $43.03 and S&H was approximately $7 bringing the expenses to $50 and yielding a small profit of about $30. Just another in a long list of toned coins that have held their value while in my collection despite the predictions of the toned coin naysayers who always predict that the crash is just around the corner.
Well I don't love it nor hate it. hate it because of that weird thing that goes on the face but love the toning. I said love it because I hate being mean.
Well I wasn't around when the coin was posted. Otherwise I would have loved it back then, and now too.
Nah, I don't care much for it at all. The bleach looking stain over her nose and eye ruins it for me. The bleach stain makes the coin look like it's been artificially toned to me. Sorry, not my cup of tea. :thumb:
