Todays pickups at my local flea market: 1888 Britannia Groat (Fourpence) issued for use in British Guinea. Henry VI (1422-1430) Half Groat S1836 Annulet issue, minted in Calais which was then still under the English crown. Commonwealth Half Groat (Twopence) 1649-1660 S3221. Enjoy!
Fantastic commonwealth half groat! I've been lusting after a commonwealth issue for some time now, but have yet to find one that fits my budget and desired grade.
Just for the hell of it - here are the other main coins I picked up today - a nice set of Victoria Jubilee silver coins. The Crown is 1888 and the others are all 1887 (Golden Jubilee year). Enjoy!
Bought this one back in April at the CICF auction, just realized today that I hadn't photographed it. Henry VIII groat S2337E.
I wish, still need a portrait coin of his in time. Don't want the after death one. Got this though. Rule, Britannia!: 1812 UK George III Silver 3 Shillings Bank Token - 1836 UK William IV Groat - 1855 UK Victoria 1/2 Penny -
For Queen Vic and collectors he is VERY popular and profitable. The only problem is that his coins are quite expensive and hard to find in high grades. I recently acquired this one (1832 AU55) to add to my collection. Hope to complete the series some day.
Everyone knows I'm a sucker for colonial tokens. I got this at a decent price. I know it's been cleaned but I'm happy enough with it
