Cannot seem to resist these 500th Anniversary Sets. Have the 3 coin set in a box but had to get these graded ones as well.
Plumes and Roses Queen Anne Crown always popular with the collectors and I've always wanted to own one.....FINALLY!!!
I've added a few coins over the last couple of weeks. Including me eventually finding a nice gothic florin in the right place at the right time. First up are some British Indian coins: I have a dewas state J.B 1/4 Anna on the way in a F+ condition. New Brunswick 1/2 cent. Minted in error by the Royal mint. Only a few thousand thought to have been mistakenly shipped to Halifax NS. Two upgrades of Newfoundland 50c pieces.
1893 Ceylon 10C, now know as The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka: A modern British colonial, 1976 Turks and Caicos 20 Crowns:
I'm such a mug for a chopped British trade dollar ! This is my 2nd. I still won't be selling the one in my display pic though. This has even more chops. It also now means I have one Of each monarchs issues. Chopped Victoria and Edward VII Bombay mints, London mint George V. Only need the Calcutta mint now
Here's my two latest buy's I'm waiting patiently for Dominica 1 1/2 bits British Honduras 6 shillings 1 pence
This arrived today. I'm still in need of a Calcutta mint dollar. So I now have Bombay no mintmark, one victorian and one Edwardian bombay mint, one London mint. I also won this at auction. Which I'm really happy with as I have wanted one for quite some time !
Colonel Fullerton (or Fullarton) of Ayr produced a series of pattern coinage for circulation in Scotland in 1799. Engraved by John Milton they were never issued out of concern that the authority for silver coinage rested exclusively with the royal mint. The halfpenny sized item is included in Dalton & Hamer's reference for Conder tokens as Ayrshire 5.
Fullerton was First Commissioner of Trinidad during his career. http://www.britnumsoc.org/publications/Digital BNJ/pdfs/2002_BNJ_72_11.pdf
Is it not just the gold proof £2 of the commonwealth games. I would imagine there would have been seprate sovereign issues this year too.
No this is part of the regular Royal Mint sovereign issues and included in their sets as well. Not a Commonwealth Games commemorative coin.
I see that it is a sovereign but it Is also a commemorative. This was the year of the 13th commonwealth games which happened in Scotland.
