Here's a few new ones I just got, Palestine British Mandate 1927 1 Mil Australia 1942 & 1942-S King George VI Florins
So recently I've added a lot of nice Canadian tokens and the trend is continuing! This is one of my favourites though PE10-3 which is actually also BL-24 Canadian blacksmith token. ICCS graded F-15 which is a high grade given what it is ! And my first two Canadian non- bank token pennies, ones cleaned but for the price I paid I'll try to re-tone it. A good friend of mine in New Zealand who buys bulk lots sent me these free of charge he's a great guy !
Exceeded my picture limits here's the pennies: And some from last month(the lighting is poor so coins look cleaned but they're actually nice in hand) :
Just took this piece too. Obviously it's not the grade I would have preferred but it would be impossible to buy an example in a nice grade given how much they cost and the fact they do tend to be poorer condition due to the composition. I believe I'm lucky to have one.
Nice! Here is one of my many from Australia...1885-M Victoria YH Shield Sovereign in "mintstate" quality ex: Quartermaster Coll.
Thanks, no I am an amateur at this. Matter of fact, I took my first photo 5 years ago. But I am glad you like the coin photos. John PS: these Melbourne sovereigns are tough to get in mint state, even though they made lots.
Mark, you inspired me with this token. I think it was the use of the phrase "Ironmongery" which just made me chuckle. Tracked down my own - seller's pics, Ex: G.F. Landon Collection, sold as part of the 2015 Canadian Legacy II sale in Toronto. ICCS VF-20 (for now )
I saw that one I think ? I've certainly seen a few Landon collection pieces for sale and with a blue background. Very nice one of my favourites for the "MONGERY" what does that entail ? I'm sure I could have a fantastic career there [emoji23]
I just got it on eBay. The seller has a few of the Landon pieces - it was a pretty large sale, so they're not particularly uncommon. Monger is one of my favorite words. Fish monger. Cheese monger. Iron monger. Are coin shops run by coin mongers? [emoji12]
Quite possibly one of my finest coins. Waited a LONNNNNG time for this one. This is graded an XF by NGC.
To all the collectors out there....Do you think British coins are still relatively cheap when compared to American, Japanese, German, Austrian coins??? For example British Coins with just 25-30 known examples will only fetch possibly $10,000 but if it was an American coin, it would run into some VERY high values. Does this mean there is still hope for British coin collectors to achieve a much higher upside in the future!!! Being one myself, I certainly hope so .
I think it's starting to catch up. I suppose the market in the us is bigger though. I mean I literally know one person near me who collects coins... Whilst I can't speak with much expertise as I collect colonial coinage foremost I can speak first hand as a Patron of the UK
I have been buying some fairly rare World coins recently, mostly British though, so I am keeping my fingers crossed about future values. I also just bought a Moroccan specimen coin of which, I understand, there are only 2 examples minted. Although I don't particularly collect Moroccan coins, I just found its design very appealing. Just some additional useless info. Thanks for the input Mark.
