I always take one of each new coin out of circulation, however it's usually half hearted. This time I've been anticipating them coming since it's such a rarity that they issue 2 lots in one year. Plus she become the longest reigning monarch in September.

Perhaps the only one of this month I'll be buying is this one I've agreed to buy.. 24 mariengroschen 1821 MS63, this completes the types for me and is my highest grade of the 3 the other being AU50 and the other is raw and VF.
now need to concentrate on smaller denominations.

    That shield is really tremendous.

I'm lacking only a dozen or so high $$ coins to complete my 1662-1970 UK type set (Gothic crown, pre-George III crowns, etc) so I decided to start collecting Maundy 1d (only) from every monarch.
Here's a George IV that I won yesterday.

    Yeah i love the shield.

Recently acquiring crowns has been a theme for me too. The furthest back I'm at right now is only George V. It's an expensive area really ha !

Speaking of crowns, I regret not being able to go for that 1804 Bank dollar in the Stack's CICS (Aug 14,2015) Auction. It was supposedly one of the finest examples they ever had. However my recollection is that 1804 Bank dollars were quite common is high grade. Maybe they were talking about a particular sub variety?

Yeah they were steam struck over 8reale coins. Ive seen a lot of fairly high grades.. I find it more desirable when the 8r details show through..
