I know I've got at least a couple of ancient coins with birds, but I don't seem to have photographs of any. However, birding is my other main hobby besides coins, so I do have some photos of actual birds. First, a couple from my tour of Tanzania in 2015. Red-and-yellow Barbet:

And a Von der Decken's Hornbill:

And closer to home, from the wilds of Baltimore County, a Red-headed Woodpecker:

For Parthicus, a Parthian bird - but not a woodpecker

Many moons ago Some bird breeders in Amsterdam, the Netherlands let a couple of Alexander parakeets (60 cm) and a smaller parakeet the Halsband parakeet (40 cm) free in the wild.
nowadays there are populations overhere of a couple of hundred Thousand, when you take a walk in a park , you think your in Amazonia.
There is also a small population of cacatoos.
Must be the climate change why they prospure so well.

I'll throw in an Athens owl to keep on topic: P1150890.JPG P1150894.JPG P1150895.JPG

@dougsmit, That's a very pleasant little Parthian bronze, thanks! And your nature photography is beautiful, too.

Wow, awesome coins and birds all! :)
In several parts of the US (incl. where I live) monk parrots (the green bird in my photo) have similarly established themselves after being accidentally released a few decades ago. Mine I got from a licensed seller though.

Its cute seeing my own monk perk up and chirp whenever he hears wild ones flying around :)

Surprised @stevex6 hasn't posted his bird coins yet. Thought he'd be all over this animal-themed thread.

Sadly, I don't have access to my sweet coins at the moment (we're doing renovations in the basement, so my coin dojo has been dismantled)

... but awesome coins, gang (great birds)
