    I suspect he was afraid PCGS and NGC would grade it details only (or genuine, if you prefer) while ANACS will or might grade it. Just guessing, I would say AU details if they details grade it or XF if they don't.

    Special thanks to RLM, BHP and others who offered their advice and opinions here. Also thanks to all those offering Congrats. And without further ado, here is the end result-I thought it might get a details grade due to the corrosion or whatever going on in the fields, but "whizzed"!? Didn't see that.

    You aren't the only one who did not see "whizzed". I even got the grade right. I thought it might get corroded, but I sure did not see any signs of whizzing.

    Anyhow, CONGRATULATIONS!

    what does whizzed mean?

    PCGS glossary defines it as;

  13. Louie_Two_Bits

    Louie_Two_Bits Chump for Change

    That is really cool; did you find this, or did you purchase it and then submit?

    Whizzed or not, it is a fine 1955 DDO to add to any collection!

    Congrats!

    I think that is the better find posted on this forum as long as I've been here, besides Ziggy's.

    Wow!! Finally get to see the coin graded and in a holder. That's great and what's even better is you have this whole history or (provenance) to go with the sale when you need to sell. many congrats jallengomez!!

    Just being curious, and you surely don't have to answer if you don't want. In fact I'm not even asking how much but have you had any offers and are you thinking of selling?

    Thanks again everyone.

    It is great to finally have it back in its holder. I'm not even thinking of selling this one. It's now the pride of mine and my sons collection. To actually own such a rare and famous coin is payment enough. Now if I ever find the 1958 "Big One" I'll probably sell it. After all, I don't want to be too greedy in hoarding doubled dies. ;)

    I totally missed this thread a couple months ago and had the pleasure just now to read it from start to finish. And what a great find story! I too was thinking it was genuine as I was looking at the original photos before I read the rest of the thread and to get confirmation that it was is awesome. Congrats!!
