Here's a photo of the area your talking about. Hopefully the photo shows it, but the upper b is on top. Also a couple of other photos. Whew! After the excitement of finding this there's a lot of anxiety thinking someone might see the tell-tale sign that it's counterfeit!:crying:

I'll take it anyday for $15 bucks! This one is definitely going in the collection. No way I'm selling it. After seeing my excitement, my wifes even cool with it becoming a member of the family. :D

NCS might be able to do something with the crud on the reverse...otherwise it'd get a details grade...XF45'ish....looks like environmental damage.

look for the two parallel lines in this area...even if the coin is genuine, this is the diagnostic tpgs use so if its not there chances are it will come back in a bag.....

I was looking at lincolncentresource.com and just found one other bit about this coin. It states that the reverse is rotated counterclockwise about 10 degrees. I checked and this coin is rotated about 10 degrees! Assuming that is that he is talking about a rotated die vs. rotated hub doubling on the reverse.

Dang thats awesome - Finally someone else who is local and interested in coins! I live just up the road from there off Allgood road and East piedmont. I do have a jewelers scale I could bring by as well which can at least veryify the weight to the 1/10th gram so it should weigh 3.1 grams I believe.
Send me a PM with your info - Not sure if I can stop by during the day as I work over by dobbins air force base but maybe after I get off work.

You need to post this coin in 'Roll-searchers, post your results!' in US Coins Forum if you haven't already.

Hey man, just go ahead and send it in. I don't see any signs of it being fake.

I am. I just sent an email to Bill Fivaz(who lives a few miles from me). He is listed on NGC as one of their submitters. Hopefully he's interested and will be willing to look at it and submit it for me. I'll keep everyone posted. This is AWESOME! I was just searching a box of Brinks wrapped rolls over the holiday weekend and thinking, wow I'm wasting time. I've searched thousands of cents and haven't come up with a single doubled-die, let alone a Red Book one. Came home from visiting family, checked the mail, started sorting my latest batch of wheats and saw this when I pulled it out of the bag!

An update: I noticed on NGC's website that Bill Fivaz lived in my area, so I emailed him. He promptly replied, said it looked like the "real mccoy" to him, and he would be happy to take a look at it and submit it for me. We will be getting together next week. So it's exciting that I have the coin and also that I get to meet Mr. Fivaz and discuss it with him.
