In it he uses engravings from a young artist who visited Rome in the 17th century (it was used basically a pasture and cattle auction area).</p><p><br /></p><p>He then goes methodically through each major archaeological excavation carried out since then which most were quit haphazard.</p><p><br /></p><p>it is actually very surprising how much of what you see today in the Forum are actually 19th-20th century reproductions.
