The bank wind :(

    Banks are highly regulated businesses. If they don't make a profit, their capital becomes impaired. If their capital drops below regulatory minimums, the FDIC puts them on the auction block, and their stockholders lose their entire investment. (Before the FDIC the depositors lost their money too when a bank went under.)

    Even before becoming an in-house bank attorney, I had bank clients starting in 1965, and guess what - they had minimum balance requirements!
