My avatar picture is of two coins, neither of them extremely valuable but rather have personal significance.

It was my first V nickel and first Buffalo with Date that I found nickel searching. They both happened to be in the same box. :)
My face was nothing but beaming that day. There is nothing like that feeling of having a piece of history in your hand. :D

Welp, mine is a pretty emotional avatar. Mine is the contest winning logo that a dear member here by the name of Koen designed for VDBPenny1995. When Koen passed, I immediately searched the forum for this one and put it as my avatar. Some people have noticed and made note of their noticing to me.

Mine isn't really special, it's a 1985 D penny in estimated MS67-68 that I found while roll searching.

Why is it my avatar? It's the only coin I have been able to get a good picture of!

My Avatar is my registry example of the 1939-D Reverse of 40 Jefferson Nickel NGC MS67. Here are my registry comments and photos.

    Coin Description:
A striking coin with incredible luster and superb surfaces under a dove grey and champagne rose iridescence. I have dubbed this coin "THE AVATAR" and use the obverse as my avatar on several numismatic forums. The obverse embodies everything that a Jefferson Nickel should be: booming luster, near flawless surfaces, no remnant planchet flaws, and fully struck details. If the reverse had full steps, it would fall into the same category.

    Comments:
It is essential to have and outstanding representative of the key date to the series in a high ranking registry set. This coin has a powerful appearance and does not take a back seat to any of the toned coins in this set. I purchased this nickel in the 2009 February Long Beach Sale by Heritage for a very reasonable price.

I saw mine on the bay and paid $68.99 for it. I thought it would go for more, so that's what I can tell you about my purchase. By the way my max bid was $75.99.

That reminds me. I have to change mine since I sold this coin a while back. The hard part is picking something I know I will keep. (For a few years anyway.)

The coin that inspired me to expand my World Silver collection. The 2001 un ultime franc. France's farewell to the franc. On to the Euro. This coin has a wavy matte proof surface. So far I have been unable to find a holder for it. It has since developed some toning and a small carbon spot.
