I posted them a couple weeks ago, no, toning just a different look at the surface's. A look at their color. All comments please say what's on your mind...
Goldens, blues and greens can take the sideline IMO. The deep reds on the obverse attracted my attention.
strangely enough the 44d is one of my few "toned" coins pics don't show it well is a pretty gold tone
And yes I agree...like the 1925 & 26 Peace dollars which also seem to tone more so or better than other dates. Makes one wonder if # 1 did the mint aquire blanks from a different vendor, or # 2 did the mint use a wash or other chemical durring those years that caused these years to tone? But yes I agree the 44's more so than other years.
Sweet coins, P&G. I finally finished my toned PDS set of this date this year as well, the last coin (1944-D) actually shipped on the anniversary of D-Day which was a cool end to the nearly 3 year process of locating these.
Let's see my only 44 of note would be this one: Also some bags. I don't think I have the 44 D though.
I started collecting the Mint's Limited Edition Silver Proof Sets. I was missing a couple of editions. Thanks to a member of CoinTalk, I was able to get one of the missing sets. Then I had to get the 2012 set which I found on ebay. When I got the set, a few of the coins had slight toning on the ASE and Half Dollar. I've not been a real fan of toning, but when I opened the set and saw the toning, I was smitten. I can't say that about all of the toned coins. Anyone known if the toning will continue? Is there anything out there to put the toned coins in to keep it from progressing? How do the TPG view/grade toned coins? Thanks, guys and gals. Oh yeah, I saw in the news on myu computer that the Air Force are telling their Cadets to not use the term "Mom and Dad". Has anyone heard anything about that or is someone in the computer new department propagating a hoax?
Jim the toning will continue, how fast, is determined by the environment they are stored in. My office stays and basement stays between 58 and 65 all year round and an average humidity of 30 to 42%. This keeps my collection fairly stable. For the most part I would rather a toned coin than a blast white coin. The blast white coin has more than likely been (cleaned) Or, as they say restored.
