Wow Troodon. You better put on your raincoat and crap-proof helmet. I said something similar one time and got excoriated.
I'm sorry, but this is getting a bit old... Why do certian people have to make such a big deal out of this??? I mean, the guy has a proven track record, when he gives you an update, take it for what its worth... I'm not saying bet the farm on it... Just take it or leave it... Its not like your life or someone elses is at stake over it or like you have a deal worth millions riding on this tip... Its a fricken tip or an update on a few coins from someone who has always been a great source of info on the subject... In the grand scope of things does it really matter who he is??? Does it matter if he is George T. Morgan 1878 Morgan Street Apt. 7/8TF Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19106-1886 and his Employee Bag ID is 1879-CC or if he was someone anyone else... If I was in the same position and everytime I posted an update on some new stuff or info requested everyone did this, I'd say... Well, I wouldn't say much... I just would stop giving info... I seriously hope this doesn't happen as I enjoy and apprecieate the insight... Obviously, he is in a position where he either doesn’t want his personal info or position to be know for a reason… Can't we just respect that??? Seriously, is it that big of a deal? Is it hurting you or anyone else by him having just a we bit of anonymity??? Maybe I'm wrong and it really is a big deal and I just don't recognise it... If it is, I guess I'm sorry... I just don't see it... My
This headline from coinworld may be of interest ... Individual dollars to join Proof sets Collectors will be able to obtain individual Proof 2007-S Presidential dollar coins in addition to sets of each year’s coins from the U.S. Mint, Mint Director Edmund C. Moy said March 16.
To be fair, you brought it back up after I was willing to let it go. Because not all information is of equal value. Where the information comes from matters! Why do I even have to argue that?! Again, yes! I don't need that specific of credentials (though it would explain how he knows what he does lol... maybe he doesn't want people to know that he faked his death in 1925 and that's why he's being so secretive?). But if he ever said something like "I work at the Mint" or "I know someone who works at the Mint" it would allow me to place more faith in him as a known relaible source. If he's so worried about his privacy, even something like "the information comes from the Mint" without saying how he got it would even be good enough. This is the first time I ever questioned his source, and the only reason I did is because it contradicts what I've heard from another source that I beleived to be reliable. If two sources contradict each other, the only way I can figure out which is right is to judge which source is more likely to be reliable, and to do that I need to know where each source gets their information, at least in general terms. /sigh... and I was worried that I was the one overreacting... it's not like I asked for his name, address, phone number, social security number, and shoe size. Just a brief mention of the information source would have been fine, it's not like it's a secret that violates national security or something to reveal how he knows when certain coins will be released and how they will be packaged. I'm willing to accept his track record and beleive anything he says as having a nearly 100% chance of being right, but if somebody I talk to asks me about Mint information and asks how I know something, I certaintly can't tell them "some guy on a message board whose name I don't know has information from I don't know where that I'm relying on." Whatever... if he doesn't want to reveal how he knows what he knows, that's his privilege and right... however not knowing where he gets his info, I'm just not willing to call his word the unquestioned gospel truth, no matter how good his track record. Maybe that's just me. By the way I get my coin information from books and websites, and from talking to coin dealers and coin collectors, and ocassionally employees at the Denver Mint. That wasn't painful for me at all to reveal; I didn't have to say who I was, where I worked, or anything. Wasn't a big deal at all. Again, maybe that's just me... Anyway ND86, if you want to keep your secret identity, go ahead lol... don't feel like I don't appreciate your information and advice or anything, and don't feel insulted if I don't accept everything you say as the final word. I can just let it go it at that if everyone else is willing to. And if you really are Geroge Morgan, don't worry, your secret's safe with me! Love your silver dollar design!
You're awesome ND86 =P The information that you provide to the members of CT is greatly appreciated by me, and also by the majority of the other members. Thank you for all the information that you give us, and I look forward to you're next informative update. -Paul
Same here.... Sorry folks if I came off as an a$$.... I truely don't want to throw a pebble in the pond here... I truley love this place and visit it as aften as possible...
Hi ND86, Thanks for you update on the product releases. One question, does the inclusion of the Presidential dollars in the 14 coin annual silver proof set mean they will be produced in silver or will they be clad in the silver set? Thanks again.
prez dollar there is also a single or an individual prez dollar proof version at around $5.95 each. there are few more days for us to order the two rolls set of prez washington.
The "3rd lens" is the one for the presidential dollars. The first on ebeing for the half, penny, dime, and nickel, the second being for the 5 state quarters.
Let’s not get worked up the mint will let everybody know when they will release the coins. Hey! I know George Morgan he move to:goofer: New Jersey.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am glad that you understand that my postings intended no disrespect. Further, thank you for understanding my skepticism. I do research for a living, so I guess the skepticism is inate. Lastly, although I often question, thank you for the information that you provide. Steve
Personally, I don't care if ND reveals his source(s). As long as the info he posts is accurate (which I have yet to see anything he has posted to be incorrect) does it matter? If you are not comfortable with using his info, then I'm sure he won't mind. I just wish he could fix the customer service issues at the Mint. It is by far the worst I have ever dealt with. And, I don't see it getting any better. I know some of you have not had any issues and that's fine. I wish everyone could state that. However, I hope I am in the minority when I state I have had some problems dealing with the Mint customers service reps.
i know we won't get silver pres proofs, but wouldn't a silver washington dollar look good. Especially the reverse!!:thumb: I also wanted to thank ND for his great info and for putting up with us. I think coin collectors can get a little passionate about our hobby from time to time.
Am not sure old "Gorgeous George" would look to good in anything. Gold , silver , platinum, rhodium, reverse proof. you name it . Talking about a face only a mother could love lol. Now Jefferson has that "you sly dog you" look. Think he was the only one having a good day . I agree a silver coin would be nice. However ,with the presidential circulating (maybe) coins being a gold color, not sure a silver coin would be appropriate . Maybe they could make a gold colored silver coin, just kidding ... Something I am a little curious about . The mint is making that little storage box to hold the mint and proof set for the state quarters era. Now that they are adding a 3rd lens, will they still hold these sets. Was thinking about giving a couple of them for a present later on. Just the boxes not the coins. Do not really like him that much. The stock number of the storage box is K59 I think.
