First thank you very much to the member that sent me some coins. I don't know if you want to be acknowledged or not so I'm not saying your member name. If you don't mind people knowing who you are, just chime in please. You deserve the credit.

I'm going to buy my camera this week that I've been talking about I need. I have some questions before I buy if somebody could help me out with that. I have one picked out that I can afford (because I have a charge account with them). I included the picture of what you get and I figured instead of using a macro lense (which I cannot afford at this time), I could use a reverse lense ring on the one lense. Could I??? I just need a beginner camera.

Ok I bought some buffalo nickels. They are worn some. More than what I usually buy but I got into a really fun bidding war with 7 different people on ebay and won! I paid $12 for them altogether plus $3 shipping. I have not time to photograph them. I just put up the pictures to show the dates I got and that well that I got them basically. I will photograph them when I get my new camera.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Reversing the lens loses the electrical connections of the camera that controls aperture. I suggest accessory extension tubes which have the electrical connections and come in sets of three giving different magnification ranges, Only the shortest one will be of use with the 18-55 but you can use more with the long lens and shoot from farther back avoiding shadowing the coin. Canon makes these tubes but they are expensive. The cheap $15 ones work just as well but won't take as much abuse due to lighter build. There is no glass in tubes so you lose no quality that way. Be sure you select the EF-EFS mount tubes which fit your DSLR camera rather than the M series ones that fit Canon's mirrorless bodies.

Tubes are D in the image below. This rig is overkill for what you want. Start simple and experiment.

Reversing a lens can be useful, but primarily for shooting beyond 1:1 macro (i.e., high magnification). You will lose the ability to focus the lens and you won't be able to set the aperture of the lens, since there's no mechanical aperture control on those lenses (as far as I know). If you want to use the camera for other types of photography, then the kit you show is a good one. If you're only going to use it for coins, then I would replace the 75-300 mm lens with a 100 mm macro lens.

Thank you that's exactly the advice I needed.
