Found another straight graded Thailand 4 att and had to get it! They usually are in poor shape so a slabbed one is rare! Also frequently counterfeited!! Wow, that's a beauty! I got to get one too. I have 1 att and 1 solot from close to that date, but no 4 att as yet.
@coin_nut be careful of counterfeits and anything that seems too good to be true. The 4 att is said to be highly counterfeited and I've seen fakes on ebay and its been reported on the web as well.
OK, thanks for the tip! I may get to the one reputable coin shop I have heard about in Bangkok one of these days before long. That should be a pretty safe way to go. I have a 1972 5 baht counterfeit which kind of surprised me.
I heard of one or two, here is what I find on the net: Siam Coins Address: 17 ซอย อนามัยงามเจริญ 25 แขวงท่าข้าม เขตบางขุนเทียน Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10150 Hours: Closed ⋅ Opens 6PM Another one called Wincoin Address: 181/191-2 ซ.สิงหฤกษ์ ถ.ประชาราษฎร์ สาย 2, บางซื่อ, Bangkok 10800 Hours: Open ⋅ Closes 5PM I live in Korat, gimme a yell, I can come to Bangkok too. I just goggled bangkok coin dealers, there are more hits there. The one I read about long ago was run by some old guy in Chinatown I think.
Coinnut, google SC Plaza in BKK. There are a bunch of dealer booths there but sometimes no dealers. Apparently you need to contact most of them via facebook or line but they leave their info at their booths. Worth to check it out.
Any members here get any new thai material? This thread has been neglected for a long while. Here is a 1914 Thai 1 baht I got a few weeks or months ago. Low mintage on this one, though I have been told it is easier to find than one other date of the series.
I will revive this thread. While attributed to Burma, (Shan), these also show up in Thai collections. This is one of the first unbroken "pig mouth" moneys I have seen for sale. I saw one with just a technical, (reinforced) break in Thailand, this one is beautiful.
