Yep, A-noob, your 'side photos' make Zumblys comment even easier to appreciate...and even more so for me since I was browsing on numerous auction sites comparing 'First Meris Tets' and could rarely find one as nearly high grade as yours and zumblys with all the attributes you both mention---not within my current budget anyway or less than $300.00
I paid about $330 a couple years ago for mine from a dealer in the Netherlands. I am glad you liked the side photos. If you keep your eyes peeled a nice one will come your way...just make an offering to Fortuna.
It's hard to tell from the picture, but at about 9 o clock on the reverse, there's patina damage/chipping. Right next to and touching the thunderbolt.
Your right, I probably would not have noticed it all had you not said something. I think the coin is still worth what you paid for it.
Noob => I betcha that baby would look pretty wild if you put it on the train-tracks and squished 'er flat?!!
I love the type which should be on the wish list of a Greek silver generalist. I bought mine in 2013...
=> I don't have one either, my friend (I only have the PAN-type, which is obviously beyond yummy cool) ... hey, how 'bout we pool our cash and buy one together? ... but we'll have to store it at my place, for the climate is a bit drier, right? (we make an awesome team) I'm just sayin' ... please send me $175 US (or $1M Canadian) and I'll find us a total winna!!
Not a bad idea, except I think we should store it at my place since there is climate control 24/7 in my house. So you can just send me $1M US for your share.
Mine is worn and shows the variation with AP at the top and no lower monograms. Looking at coins on acsearch, I see this is a common situation with many coins lacking the lower monograms being AP. Does anyone know which monograms mean what?
I was about to ask the same question...since I keep seeing a reference to the monograms, or the scarcity of the lack of them at auction?????
