Peter, what are the rules for posting pictures? I can repost PeacePeople's picture (i.e. save it and then load it again), but I cannot display my pictures of the same size. FWIW, all the pictures I have posted in my guess the grade appear in my "existing files" as "?". No icon is displayed.
All the images I post are getting resized. I use Photobucket and paste the image code in the body of my reply. In the past my images showed up full size (the size I picked to post them at). Now it takes three clicks to get there. I'm guessing this is to make the site run faster by not having to load all the full size images?
Is it the same for you? When I click on "manage attachments", every photo I've uploaded comes up in the file upload manager window. Does the same happen to you guys?
Yes, this shows all the images you have posted to CT that are hosted here, whether those are images in your Profile page ALBUMS or directly inserted into a thread post via your computer upload.
Do they auto-delete at some time? It states on there that images not used will be deleted in one hour, which is fine, but what about the ones already posted/used. Will those delete at some point as well. All the photos ever listed on ct seems to be a whole lot of bandwidth and memory.
Not that I know of, but you have a limitation of file size and storage capacity, so you may hit a wall someday when you have too much uploaded, unless Peter expands the free memory capacity for storing image files. The time one-hour limit I believe refers instead to the active box you may be using during your session, not to what has been uploaded and hosted to your account. Does that make sense? It's sort of a cached workspace in my understanding. But I host images on Photobucket (for free) so I can post larger images and control my content if I ever need to take an image down once my editing capability on CT has expired in 24 hours.
I think that is incorrect. It doesn't save the images you post directly to threads anywhere in your personal profile. I tested that assumption, and it didn't work. The only thing it does when you are posting photos directly to a thread is give you the option to post photos from your album, your computer or your hosting service. Chris
I can figure, that is absolutely correct. When I try to post a new image, I can pick from any of the 1200 images I have here. It says "select from existing files below". This includes both my albums and those in threads.
Regardless, I have no problems posting pics here and don't really rely on hosting pics on CT due to the file size limitation. I recommend hosting on Photobucket as it's the best one I found because it's free and doesn't compress your files too small for posting in other forums. I'm sure all the rest of the image posting options will take a little learning curve to adjust to, but once understood will provide their own level of reliability. Good luck.
Just curious, do your photos show up with the icon and the info, or an actual picture when you open the manage attachments window?
My earlier ones have an icon and info, but the one I am having problems loading have an icon with a "?" and the info.
I'm not totally sure what the question mark is about, but I'm guessing there is some type of formatting issue with the previous uploads and the newer versions now used. You may have to upload them again from whatever hosting sight you used. Please do not take this as gospel info, just a guess.
I'm experiencing problems trying to post some of the photos from my computer, and they are well under the 250kb limit. Most are less than 100kb. When I try to upload the images, I get the "big question mark thingy", too. Chris
Test with adding a picture from computer. But why is it that when you click on "Reply to Thread" it only lets you type on the "Quick Reply" box instead of opening up the form with the smiley faces and extra features?
