Hey Leadfoot...what changed your grade from VF to VG? Well I don't see how anyone can say anything lower than VF after looking at photos.... Like this one from DLRC....its graded VF20 by NGC. http://www.davidlawrence.com/coins/ViewCoin.cfm?Inventory=150423&CFID=963607&CFTOKEN=edae3b35e570dcf7-CF543D51-2BFC-0A80-302BC3D792F802DB I know my LIBERTY isn't as good as this one...but my date is better than this one ;) This one is XF45....and the LIBERTY is weak just like mine...but the horn is better. http://www.davidlawrence.com/coins/ViewCoin.cfm?Inventory=140621&auc=76&lotid=77153&CFID=963607&CFTOKEN=edae3b35e570dcf7-CF543D51-2BFC-0A80-302BC3D792F802DB Then there is this one....NGC VF25...and I don't see how it made F...let alone VF http://coins.heritagegalleries.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=26015&Lot_No=11095 Now after looking at the photos of the coins above...it change your mind? The 1926-S was weakly struck...in fact it is real rare to find one with a Full Horn...DLRC has one with Full Horn and it is over $500.00 Now I'd agree with VG10 IF this wasn't a 1926-S nickel...but you must grade this coin knowing that it will be graded higher than a normal coin because of the weak strike--Reading PCGS grading's guide here it what it says for a VF Buff Nickel-- The grade of VF20/36 have up to half of their detail worn away. There will be wear across all of the obverse, including the protected areas. There is hair detail, though much of the sharpness is gone. On some coins, the rim may touch the top of LIBERTY, especially in the lower VF grades. The reverse will have wear across the entire bison and in the protected areas. Normally, the horn will be funn, but the tip may be slightly worn. In lower VF Grades and on coins that were weekly struck, the tip of the horn will not be present. On some coins, the rims may touch the heads and tails of the bison. Speedy
