    It took me longer than it should have to get this type. There are claims that there was a hoard of No Stars Dimes, but it must have been absorbed when I was looking for it.

    Among all of the dime type coins, the 1873-4 With Arrows type is among my least favorite. But when you are out to complete a collection, you need one. This is not one of my better coins. It is a Proof, but not a nice one.

    For those who are not familiar with the type, the weights from the dime, quarter and half dollar were increased slightly to bring them up to round Metric System numbers. During this period people were dreaming of an international coinage that could be used across international borders. The idea never took off.

    Oddly enough the weights for those coins remained the same until the clad coinage starting in 1965.

    As a type collector, I got "collector fatigue" with the Liberty Seated coins. If you want all of the listed types, it's quite a group.

    The quarters and half dollars have more types because of the "Rays" and "No Rays" reverses.
