I just started aggressively yet politely asking Tellers for Halves that they have along with getting boxes of halves too. Does anyone have any tips? Also I usually get 65-69 40% halves if I get anything. What do you guys normally get?
That's all I ever find, and they are few and far between. I'm guessing I only hit paydirt 1x every 40x I ask? Hardly ever... You can also ask for "customer-wrapped rolls" of pennies, nickels, and dimes, especially if the wrappers "look old".
I scored 5 40%ers over the last two days by asking for loose halves. I did go to about 15 banks though. I'm trying to find a better way the ask for CWR but Loomis is so entrenched in my area that even the tiny banks and credit Unions use Loomis. Gotta keep digging. I would love to find CWR of dimes too.
I made friends with the cage cashiers at a local casino. They handle far more cash and coin than bank tellers these days. Casino cashiers also know what to look for and pull anything and everything they see, as opposed to the kids working the bank windows that only know that silver coins "look funny".
