I haven't given up on any quite yet, but my ongoing quest for a proof set of braided hair half cents has hit a serious roadblock for now.
These are exceptional ones I know. But I find xf-au trades in original gray to be very attractive. I always try to have a few in my cases at shows. Their not a great seller but I love them so it don't matter
Rainbow toned type set- some of the prices are too high IMHO so I am selling off my toners and working on other stuff.
I have a complete Nikolai II type set save the 25 kopek coin. I had a complete typeset of the gold before, but sold it and had to buy the coins individually again over the years. The most difficult coin to find in a grade I wanted was the bronze 5 kopek - came from a collector in Romania. Early USSR is difficult because of the Chervonetz coin from 1923-5, silver is fairly easy. Bronze, especially the 3 and 5 kopek are pains in collectable grade. Another difficult typeset was the Siberian coinage from 1764-1781, the larger ie 5 and 10 kopek are easy, but my polushka and denezhka were real stinkers to find. My 1 kopek is a 19th century novodel and my 2 kopek is the rare 1767. Was just thinking, I should dig out the pyataki from Ekaterina II that I have literally dozens of sometime.
If I went to the dark side, I think I would hire you as a consultant. Lol There are a lot of interesting foreign series, but I would be largely clueless. I would need to learn to grade according to international standards instead of liberal U.S. standards, wouldn't I? What would I do without CAC? ( I'm clearly joking)
