LOL amazing,, there is no reading between the lines.... that paragraph you quoted is essentially the same as the 5th paragraph of my opening post, which is preceded by 4 paragraphs of qualifying who this thread is for and who is not for.

Did you actually read my first post? NO! you immediately jumped to the juicy stuff and like the others here who can't see past their noses, want to get into the personal details, rather than seeing the post for what it is, a complaint about Auction Houses and how they conduct their business in relation to the rest of the world.

Now you know why gossip columns are so popular.. lol

    learn something every day, amazing!

Teletrade does not combine shipping on items won from different auctions.

Those are the rules. Written or not, they've informed you that this is their policy.

If you don't like it, bid somewhere else.

    Get over it.

Two choices here Eye! Keep looking like an idiot or suck it up like a man and say you've learned a lesson from your experience and move on. I would apologize to the dude at TT too but that's just me. You can only show ignorance for a little while, then it starts looking stupid. :dead-horse:

Truth is, I have spent enough time on these boards that I would have thought that their practices would have been common knowledge since eBay is such a hot topic.

Now that I think about it. I found out about TT from message boards.

My first TT purchase raised my eyebrows as previously posted. They put a round number of $250 for the buyer premium. I let it go because I got a DDO for about what the premium was along with another 20 or so coins.. $1600 invoice... I got an OK deal in other words and let the obvious round number BP go.

My second purchase I cancelled because I didn't read the terms or they didn't register. When I got an invoice with a BP line item that was more than the cost of the coins, I said no - thank you.

So on my third or should say search. I put bids in on a bunch of $50 coins spanning all the auctions I could search to justify the 15% BP and walked away. When I noticed I had won some, I Logged in and asked for a combined invoice from purchase of a coin here and a coin there. ie widgets.. I searched the site, no where could I find where they would not combine invoices, seemed like a reasonable request.

I kept getting emails that I had won, that items were closing soon, that I had been outbid, etc etc meanwhile I still hadn't heard or seen anything about my previous request.

soooooo..... I notched it up a level. and here I am.

The point is. Stories like this are things I remember from other people. I like to hear references and stories about sellers. I typically form my own judgments with those comments in mind... What you don't know Duke, is I have thousands of purchases in the last 18months. 99% of them go smooth. those that don't go smooth, I complain about AFTER - a repetitive burning.

A childish rant. Teletrade has a policy, you don't like it. Tough edited. Suck it up and act like an adult.

    Eye,

It's called a smartphone. Do you really think he was at work at 7AM on a Sunday? He most likely has access to check his company e-mails via a company provided smart phone. Every executive in my company has one!

While I am sure that you will tell me that this whole effort is based on the "principle" relating to good customer service, I would never spend this much energy over $5.

The truth is in the details.

Teletrade does not send out "you've been outbid" emails nor do they send out "item is closing soon" emails.

Your noose is getting tighter. :too-funny:

I won an auction Tuesday evening on Teletrade. The coin arrived today. They are lightning fast with their shipping. Heritage keeps me hangin' for weeks.

Dunno 'bout that... at least I read some conflicting opine in here... and that's a debate.
Eye has a good base point, in that TT fee's are abit inflated,, that's a point I agree with.
Others have counter points that those fee's are posted and obvious... I agree with that too, but was also a collector that didn't read them and found out the hard way that TT fee's were over the top... so learned my lesson there.
I've also see the debate roll into how to manage the customer relations side of this learning experience.. and here I agree with both sides:
1 - Eye was too harsh in his reply to TT
2 - Eye was also the "customer",,, aka, the boss... so is well within his rights to request any dang thing he wants for "his" money.....
3 - TT is well within thier rights to either tell Eye to go fly a kite, or to accept his request...
Now if I were in TT's customer service dept., and someone who just dropped 1.6k on coins on my venue (which generated at least $500 profit for TT),,, then I'd wipe his butt with scented tissue after I combined shipping.... but that's just me, I an old Quality guy (Deming, Schewart, etc...), and understand that folks are diverse and have diverse expectations, and am willing to accept those pickier folks requests now and then... especially if they are cash cows for the company.

To Harsh ? He was blithering idiot .
He may be the customer, that doesn't give him or any other customer license to be rude , harassing and or outright libelous toward this company and or any of it's representatives . There is a reason why there are Terms and Conditions associated with doing business . Companies put them right our there for Potential Customers to either agree to , or choose not to do business with that company . This horse is before the cart . It's one thing to admit you either didn't read or understand those terms & conditions, and quite another to take such a position against it , after you have comitted to a " Purchase " and expect that company to re-write policy to suit your satisfaction. Debate ? there is no debate here . None at all.

I guess I'm use to a more global view... Terms and conditions probably don't even have a direct translation in many countries, where sales are open ended and each side will offer price flexibility around a central point offerend by the seller... that may be an process that is beyond most of the US population except for, and this is my observation, the more wealthy, who really don't care about 'T&C's' and demand privy service and are often abit rude in thier asking and demanding of it...... so the question to a provider of services to this group is, do you want to put up with snobby rich money spending wealthy customers or not, because if not, then they will simply find someone else to provide such service,,,,, which is likely how they became wealthy in the first place.

Contractual Terms & Conditions of a Sale is not simply an " American " thing . Many years ago, even though they legally could be enforceable , rarely were they adhered to, depending upon the relationship that been established between a business /Owner and Customers . Usually, a handshake or even more simple , your word was good as gold. We all know, that is not how the world operates today, and this " Rant " is a perfect example as to why that type of business relationship's no longer works today .

I once had a buddy down at the watering hole in ponte vedra a decade or so ago... his Jaguar had just gone out of warranty and developed electrical issues... maybe 3-4 months post warranty.... He called the dealership and demanded in harsher terms and more colorful language than has been expressed between eye and TT that they fix this issue,, warranty be danged !

    ... they fixed his car.
... he purchased a new Jag a few year later..

Moral - being a hard edited demanding customer pays.... serving hard edited demanding and rude customers pays too.
