When I visited Tanzania in 2015, there didn't seem to be many coins in circulation, probably due to inflation (at the time, 1800 shillings = 1 US dollar). The only coins I ever saw were these 100 and 200 shilling coins:
Interesting that the coins from the 80s featuring Nyerere do not mention his name but simply say "rais wa kwanza" (Swahili for "first president"). The later ones with his successor Mwinyi simply have his portrait ... Christian
