This is a coin I bought at one point for 20 cents out of the world coin junk bin. The inscription intrigues me - I can’t seem to find a match, and it’s not a Kai Yuan Tong Bao coin, because the bottom character is not a Yuan. The coin has a blank reverse as well. It’s a bit rough, but does anyone know the inscription? Diameter is 21.5mm.
My gut said South Song, but I could not find a match. The closest match I could find is Minh Duc Thong Bao cast in Vietnam 1527-1530.
Well, looks like it's not ancient or medieval at all. It's a Tu Duc Thong Bao cast in Vietnam in brass in the 19th century.
Sorry, I meant Barker 103 and not Hartill. Type coin, I assume you are looking at Hartill’s Reference (25.38) and it is apparently not correct according to Barker.
