I personally don't like the idea of validating CAC services, so would never send a coin to them. It's all subjective so I say, "Buy the coin not the sticker."
Don’t think the 1850 10C will make it. The pink hues might indicate an old cleaning. I really like the 1885 25C!
After taking a second look at the 1845 H10C, I noticed an undeserved hit on her right breast. That in addition to the minor wear could jeopardize a CAC sticker on this 58 graded coin imho. After finding a scant few very minor defects on these coins, nonetheless I am envious. Congrats!
I’d say no on the 23/2 and the 27 half. The rest I’d send as the green bean would add to the value and salability
Thanks for the opinions. I decided to go with my gut and send in the first 6. I'll let you know how they do. If I had to be even pickier... I'd say the 73 dime may fail. IDK why, but I feel like the 1823/2 dime will sticker despite the hit. Remember, the coin is very very small, and the hit is normal circulation for a mid VF, and shouldn't affect the grade, IMO. We shall see.
John, I agree with your assessment to try them. I think the market has clearly spoken that CAC adds value and certainly makes it much easier to sell a coin. I would place the first 3 coins as the highest likelihood to pass. Personally, I don't think the hit on the 1823/2 will preclude it from passing. CAC puts much more value on original surfaces and correct grading than marks like this or small rim dings. Holding it back for that mark alone would be silly...
Whether or not that one stickers is up to them, but they reject coins for small issues like that on a regular basis
Didn't read every post. I've sent a few coins to CAC under my collector membership. Did ok. I don't strictly look for CAC coins. I look for coins that fit my collecting interests. If I plan on selling, I may send a couple in. A nice coin is a nice coin, regardless the sticker. JMO
That stinks. I completely missed the obverse scratches on the 1862. That’s why that one didn’t sticker.
As much as it stinks to only get two of six, you did get two and this grouping has provided a lot of useful information for you. I think in the future you will look a bit more for things that CAC won't sticker on a coin and yet still be willing on some to take a chance.
