I don't know about a grade but the reeds sure do look strange. Is that from wear?, cause the rest of the coin features look pretty nice
What is up with the denticles? The denticles look G but the coin looks AU-UNC. (If only I could afford UNC seated coins...)
They come like that sometimes. It is a striking issue. See another one here: http://coins.ha.com/itm/seated-half.../131532-23129.s?ic4=ListView-Thumbnail-071515 As for the OP's coin.... it is impossible to grade based on the pics. It could be anywhere from AU to MS-64.
Yeah I'm not exactly sure why the rims like that but it's a fairly common on these. Best photos I can get.. such a small coin
obv. It's a Valentine #1 heavy compact date, high, Curve top to 5,the 6 is course 185 especially compact , Tip of shield points to 1 . A peculiarity of the coin is the denticulations of the milling are NOT well struck up. Rev. Medium lettering
62 . Denticles are pretty bad on a lot of these small coins , though this one they're extremely bad . I have a clashed 1857, 64 (my grade) where 1/2 the denticles are ok the other 1/2 weak .
No way is that a detailed coin. 56 and 57 have strike issues. My 57 is off center strike. I be will to bet any one that this one is a MS coin. Any takers?
from the first set of photos that's what I saw...if the second set is the same coin then I would go MS 63/64. Like the title said "Take a guess" so I took one
