I saw a german coin thread, but no Swiss coin thread. Post your coolest Swiss coin! Also, anyone have tips on how to take better photos of coins because I am struggling, as you can see.
As far as photos, there are many threads here about how to take photos. Do some searching and reading and you'll get better fast. For your particular photos, I think that's motion blur (camera movement), and you have a white balance problem. So read up on that - a way to stabilize the camera like a tripod, and white balance is a setting in your camera typically.
Each canton produced its own money until 1848. Here's an 1813 kreuzer from St. Gall. Mintage 102,000. It's a small thin coin.
Zürich, undated circa 1560. This one is known as a "Stampfer thaler" for the designer and mintmaster, Hans Jakob Stampfer. An early example of roller press struck coinage.
1917 B 5 Rappen NGC MS64 1929 B 5 Rappen NGC MS65 1891 B 5 Rappen (will send in someday soon, in hand is much nicer than either of the above two)
I knew I had 3 more... and check out the rainbow toning on this 1921 2 francs..the grade is not all that. I can even see purple with a loupe...
Basel, undated circa late 17th - early 18th century. The obverse features the bishop's crosier, or staff of office, as enshrined on the Basel coat of arms. The reverse is the city view, showing the city and the bridge over the Rhine, with lesser Basel in the foreground, founded to guard the bridgehead.
Most people would be surprised to know how tough the moderns are. Things like 1971 francs only seem common because no one puts them into collections and they are available cheap. All it would take is a few collectors and we'd see just how scarce they really are in nice condition like XF or better. They are far tougher than most of silver issues.
I Like what you say, Sometimes I wonder why I am even putting this coin in my collection,It may book for less than a dollar. Then I look at it and think, it's in XF-UNC condition so in it goes. A lot of times Quality is the key.
