I would like to hold a contest. I'm not sure of the prize right now, but it will be silver of some kind, either some dimes and quarters, or an ASE, not too sure, depends on how difficult this contest becomes. Here are the rules: guess, once per day (calendar day, so a guess at 11:59 pm on Monday and a guess at 12:01 am on Tuesday is permitted, but your next allowed guess is on Wednesday at 12:00 am, Cointalk timestamp on my computer decides what is allowed and not allowed), per member, what was the last coin I purchased? Here's a hint, it's Roman. Might be Imperial, might be Provincal, it's not Rebublic. I don't own a BC Roman coin. Second hint, for those of you that may search coins I post, I haven't posted it on Cointalk. Let the guessing begin. Good luck to everyone that participates.
A Roman Empire Coin Dated about 253 AD Prior to the Rome-Byzantium split. That is all I have, not much of an old world coin collector.
I was looking through my Kenmore stamp catalog and came to a page that had Roman coins. And thought I would give it a shot.
Ok, I need to clarify. I'm not looking for a specific coin variety, just Emperor or Province and denomination. For example, you could say Marc Anthony denarius. That guess would encompass all varieties of Marc Anthony denarius. Obviously, since I don't have any BC coins, it's not that one. Here's a hint/modification to help narrow it down... it's from the 1st century AD.
A roman coin that commerated the founding of constantinople with romelus and remuls being fed by the wolf on teh reverse and on the obverse a bust of cosntantine
Thanks, i like it =). I have been studying and collecting united states coins for 4 years and im jsut getting started into ancients. my pastors husdend gave me the coin =)
