the photo of the front isn't very good but its probably a little overgraded. Here's my first S vdb, my first and last problem coin VF 25 details but cleaned and corroded. I guess we learn from our mistakes.

Dang Harry, thats at least 3 09-S VDB's you have that I know of. Pretty nice little hoard !!

I'd call the first pic'd here a 15/20, then I know you have a sweet 64RB that I sold you, and the ANACS.....hmmm, are we in competition? lol

The only one that matters is the 64. From now on I'm going for quality only. I'm also quite confident that your Highest quality S VDB will blow the 64 away.

I am sitting on a few right now, the best would be a 65RB, a sweetheart. I have a dog 64RD, a primo 64 red and a few circs.

Whats the norweb collection? Is this overpriced?

Lincoln Cent1909-S VDB NorwebPCGS MS65RDLustrous, full red gem. From the Norweb Collection (pedigree noted on holder). A unique opportunity.$8,950

Heritage has sold 25 MS65's since January of 2007. They got between $4300 and $6300. Not that I am into coins that high, but $8500 sounds at least $2000 too high.

I cannot see the coin ( cookies messge comes up ) but yes, I would say that a 65RD @ at that price is too much. If it is a primo, maybe 7/7500. Any 66 will trade in the 15K/25K range, so a liner is debatable. Rlm and I sat at the LB Heritage show and saw one sell for 22K plus juice.

Prices are down now, the heat cooled quickly......economy thing. If I had a top of the line primo 65Rd and was offered $7000, or a generic at 5+K, I would have to take it quickly unless I did not attempt a cpl regrades/crackouts. They are not rare, too many available. 66 is another story.

On the flip side, I would not be suprised to see this sell at that level. Folks do pay a premium for the Norweb collection. We just saw what happened with Jack Lee.......

AJ, click on the picture icon. You can see it that way. FWIW, if that is a 65, my 29-D is a 66.

    Thanks Rlm

Generic 65 at BEST. Cheekbone looks "rubby" and the coin lacks luster.

If I sent that coin in it would not come back at 65.

Good I thought it looked a little over priced and over graded. What does pedigree noted on holder mean?

The holder will say " Norweb Collection " , like they do with the Omaha Bank Hoard. I never did follow the pedigree thing, but here is an example of gradeflation for " Provanance " , the correct term for " pedigree " when dealing with coins.

It happened with Eliasberg and many others.

So true Mark. Hence the statement "buy the coin not the slabb" I'm learning........

Hmm, I have the Norweb catalogs and price realized from the 1987 auction and I do not see any 09SVDB MS-65, only one unslabbed MS-64 ( lot 206) and went for $770. 2 MS-63s unslabbed went for $687, and one with tiny spot on obverse for $550.

I guess when slabbed it jumped from 64-65.

In 1996, The Eliasberg sale had one 09SVDB MS-65, which looking at the photo ( even though small) looks soooo clean. Price realized $2530.

VF 20. I see no reason to give it an EF grade.

The coin was graded correctly at VF-30 in my opinion, and the perfect example of a quality circulated coin. Very nice Jack!!

All I can say is that all of the 09-SVDB's are much nicer that the one I have - oh right I don't have one, yet. One of these days though....
