So I was unaware of this until fairly recently. I know it is not strictly ancient but I’ll take a chance and figure someone will find it interesting. https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/death-and-memory/anglo-saxon-ship-burial-sutton-hoo If you can access BBC, there is a great show called “Detectorists” that you should watch. Sutton Hoo was a magnificent find. I visited the site in 2003 which was interesting, but all the great artifacts are in the British Museum.
A BBC show called "Detectorists." That's good enough all by itself. Th BM exhibit is great. Thanks for all of this.
My friend @Aethelred (seldom seen on the forums) uses the Sutton Hoo helmet for his avatar. It was indeed a find of historic proportions. Included coins, too.
My wife visited the British Museum a few years ago. She said the Sutton Hoo exhibit was easily the most impressive exhibit there and talks about it often. Just think about all the treasures from all over the world that are in the British Museum. Yet it was the Sutton Hoo artifacts that made the greatest impression.
