I think trains have been on some US coins lol. Anyway I was just genuinely curious about what people here thought about it; I have no stake in convincing people to think about it the way I do. So thanks all for that. Honestly if this was like, $60 to $80, I wouldn't have to think about it; I'd already have bought it. But the premium above its intrinsic value is so high I have a hard time justifying the purchase to myself, unless it's something I really really wanted. And while I don't dislike Superman, I mean come on he's Superman, I also haven't spent years thinking "I just must absolutely own a picture of Superman on a piece of medal." I'm not against such a thing existing; I think it's about time that pop culture get its recognition for being a significant aspect of American history and culture, so why not recognize it. I don't want it to get to the point of being ridiculous, like some foreign coins that have pop culture characters that have nothing to do with their country, but Superman is definitely an iconic character in American pop culture. If I had to pick one fictional character to represent America, I'd probably pick him too. And the design is just really good. That being said... I've not lain awake at nights dreaming of owning a coin with Superman on it. TLDR version: I want it, but I don't $135 want it. Maybe if it's possible to get it in the secondary market for a more reasonable price, I'll go for it. But I'm not paying $135 for $40 worth of silver, unless they put something on it I care more about than Superman. That being said... I just hope they get more reasonable with their prices. Even though the absolute price of the gold one is beyond what I can afford at the moment, the proportional premium is actually in line with what I would consider reasonable for something like this. If the silver ones only cost 60% more than their melt value, I'd get one right now. Anyway, again, thanks for satisfying my curiosity about what people thought about it.
