I was at Coinfest on Saturday in part to take advantage of the opportunity to submit coins to CAC for free evaluation. Of the 20 coins I submitted, 13 were $20 Gold Saints ranging from MS64-MS66. All 20 were in PCGS holders. Of the 13 Saints, I felt that 4 were strong candidates for the CAC sticker. All 4 had been purchased from the same high profile, apparently well-respected dealer who'd represented them as PQ, problem free, outstanding for the grade, etc. I was surprised and disappointed to go 0 for 4 with these coins. I did get stickers on 2 Morgans, a 1909-S Indian Cent PCGS MS65 RB and a MS64 1924 Saint I'd submitted raw to PCGS a few years ago. All of these coins had been purchased on EBAY from relatively anonymous sellers. I found it ironic that none of the coins I'd purchased as PQ from high profile dealers got the sticker. I'd like to hear comments on this, as well as the experiences of others submitting to CAC.
