That was "our" areich. Theirs is Andreas Reich, I think, which would be a "him". In any case, discussing a forum site at a different forum site often has a certain haut-goût. So please try and discuss the coin, not the site, in this topic. :)

Isn't someone going to say something about the coin in the eBay link? I'm no expert on ancients, but it looks real to me.

The coin is a cast fake. It has been condemned by an authority on this mint who has also provided the following image of another matching fake for comparison and confirmation of the nature of the fake.

Thanks to Martin for posting the comparison image. In case someone out there misses why this is important, compare the two images of different coins. Note especially the edge crack at the obverse top and about 2 o'clock and how the centering of the strike leaves some extra at the bottom. Details like this would not match up so well if the coin were just struck from the same dies but stand as evidence they both were transferred from the 'mother' coin from which the mold was made. Someone might say that it is possible that one of these coins was the genuine mother of the other but that is where we start looking at the fuzzy detail which we call the 'cast look'. The evidence on this adds up far beyond the reasonable doubt level required for conviction and potentially fake coins do not deserve even that degree of civil rights. To me, the 'look' of the OP coin is sufficiently suspicious that I would not buy the coin for $5 and would look at the dealer to determine if he (1) had made a single mistake, (2) had no idea what he was selling or (3) was a crook. We might differ on which of these three levels means we would not consider buying other coins he offers but beginners, at least, might consider the wisdom of buying from someone who would not be selling this coin under any of the three. I'd hope no one would feel like they were benefiting mankind by buying anything from the #3 crook grade seller.
