Well, it's obvious it was not intentional. I don't think deviants are that oblivious. It was another "double entendre", but one that was NOT intentional. I agree that the name may be hurting business. I do like bkozak33, so I dont hold any grudges based on this thread alone. I guess CT can be broken down into two camps: Amanda Cheerleaders Amanda haters It's a lot for more fun to cheer for her! God, this thread has more fireworks than the show @Mainebill put on at his house.
Enough ! If you have something to say then say it. But there is to be no more finger pointing or personal attacks - by anybody !
@Amanda Varner , please continue to post your pretty coins here. But as you pointed out yourself, a few sentences along with the coin link would have made all the difference in the world to some people. I look forward to your next picture of an exotic coin I wont ever possibly be able to afford. Also, congrats on getting the eBay store back up and running. -Matt
I'm of the Amanda liker camp! I feel she's contributed a lot to ct!! Her coin show reports are outstanding and it makes me slightly jealous I can't go yet her point of view as an insider from a long established coin business is very informative. The one time I did business with them was very pleasant and I bought a nice coin! Amanda keep posting however you want I always look forward to reading them!
"Likewise with Amanda's avatar, it's mildly evocative." I assume you meant provocative. But seriously what is provocative about it? She can't help that she is gorgeous. It's just a picture of her face.
No, I dont mean provocative. e·voc·a·tive adjective bringing strong images, memories, or feelings to mind. "powerfully evocative lyrics" synonyms:reminiscent, suggestive, redolent; More But I can understand why you would describe it as provocative as well.
Amanda did nothing wrong. Others have linked to coins, and this is done all the time. People generally do have special interests here, and that is the love and purchase/sale of coins. All she did was provide a link to be clicked of an incredible looking coin--she wasn't advertising it, nor doing anything that others haven't done a million times. Moreover, the term "con porn" has been around for years and years to describe an incredibly beautiful coin. Relax, everybody!!!
Put me down in the Cheerleader camp (Even though I'm not particularly impressed with the dollar. Maybe it looks better in hand.)
I was about to bail on this conflict- thread but I'm glad I hung in because I love monkey- art even more than coin-porn! The Chief kills it, again!
Serves me right for posting and then not reading my post. Looks like I had a bracket backward on the closing quote. Sorry for the difficulty.
@Amanda Varner I'd like to apologize for all of this. I had no right to say what is or is not against the rules of CoinTalk. I like the term Coin Porn it does not bother me in any way shape or form. I've even decided to take part in @Mainebill 's post your coin porn. As for your blog I do look around every week or so I think it is a professionally developed site and your posts are always interesting reads. 1 of my favorites is your comic book post. With all of that said I hope you can accept my apology but I can understand if you can't To all of the other members of CoinTalk know that I do not have any problems with any of you and I'd like it if everyone had that same attitude towards me. I believe that you should treat people how you want to be treated and I do my best to treat people with dignity and respect. I hope all of you enjoy reading some of my posts especially some of my lesson threads because I have begun working on some new ones and I hope everyone reads it and learns a thing or two. Thank you, Josh
